Well, first of all how old is your female that you own right now? If she is
older than 8 weeks and you decide on getting a female, yes you will have to
do split cage. Are you wanting to breed gerbils? If you are, then get a
male. I warn you though, breeding gerbils is kind of difficult. YOu have
to find lots of homes.
