I have a question. I have one mating pair and
have been brave enough to order a second pair. As I read the many posts
and web site I am awed by the number of gerbils that breeders have. My
daughter and I are doing this as a hobbie and personal interest.
Is there really are market out there for this many
gerbils? I am concerned that with two mating pairs I may saturate the
market in our area. I am lucky that we are the only AGS members in the
State of Maine. There are few good quality gerbils here, and the
variety is even more limited. I am hoping that by dealing mostly with
colors that have been harder to get up here that I can keep the pups moving into
good homes. Although, I have set up a stand with the two 10 gallon
aquariums and the 33 gallon aquarium. I have divided the 33 gallon into
two sections. One for female pups and one for male. Just incase they
don't move fast enough I don't want any suprises.
I just can't imagine the market supporting the
large number of breeding gerbils that many breeders seem to have. I have
been a bit worried about keeping the pups moving, so I will be glad to hear that
the market is greater than I anticipated.
