I would DEFINITELY seek another vet. I have had gerbils under anesthesia
three times and no ill effects. Every time the gerbil recovered
quickly. Pookie woke up within 5 minutes of having his leg amputated and
was moving around the tank and eating. You just need to find one that
knows how to work with rodents.
