Animals may be shipped across the border. It takes pre-arrangement;
a certificate of health (about $40) from a veternarian; doing the
declaration
of customs; and do doublecheck if the animals have to go into quarrantine
as they go across for a period of time. Some do, some don't.
You might have to find a different route other than the USPS, but
check into it. They will probably do it if there is no quarrentine period
set for that animal type and the certificate and declarations are in order.
Even if you would have someone transport them, they still need that
certificate of health or the animals will be turned back...or confiscated.
Whatever you do, don't try to smuggle the animals across. (that means
skirting customs or pulling a fast one) If they catch you, it's a serious
fine,
they'll confiscate the animals, and more.
So don't try to meet someone at the border and 'swap' gift boxes or
something like that; unless you do it aboveboard.
This is possible, just do it right, ok?
Deborah Adams on the forum; is moving from Alaska to the Lower 48;
and has to have the certificate from the vet for her animals so she
may drive along that highway that goes from Alaska to Washington
through Canada. Else Canada won't let her animals into or out of
their country....
