I beg to differ on both accounts. A lot of my escapee hamsters,
I do catch in the hamstery when they waddle up hoping I'll feed
them. I do have a few that I caught all the way upstairs, but that
is a rare case.

The little black fellow that escaped and left his mate behind to
do gerbil things; ran around the downstairs family room, and
wouldn't let me get closer than about four feet beyond my reach.
He was curious, but kept moving all the time.

I am hoping that he was the exception to the rule...but.

When he ran straight up my arm and springboarded off my
shoulder I could have made him into a pancake right there.
However, after a day and a half of laughing at me and doing
the 'streak' bit...he fell for a ruse...and was finally cornered.
I added judicous and strategically placed duct tape to his
tank screen lid to prevent his next unauthorized AWOL vacation.

P.S. Peanut butter and Sunseeds did *not* tempt him into
'coming home' either.
