remember that
?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
hello all
I love my gerbils and I dont mind
giving them all the space they need in my room , I dont even mind the animal
scent they produce
the problem is with ... well , their
urine .
I dont know if it just my gerbils , or
maybe all gerbils are like that , but when ever they are in a "new" place
the first thing they do is to mark it with their urine
the thing is that they consider
their place as "new" every time after I have cleaned it !
so in a few hours it has such a smell
that I'm having a problem to even get near it .
does anyone has this kind of
problem too ?
do you have any suggestions what can I
do ?
thanks
hila.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
well , I am happy to say , that
with your kindly help , this horrible condition is over
as some of you suggested I did
the followings:
first I bought a tank instead of
a cage .. 11 gallon I believe .
second I started using wood
shavings , and took out the wooden house .
the only problem is , that where
I live , Israel , pets owner are not aware of the dangers in certain types
of wood shavings , so when I asked "from what these wood shavings are made of ?
" the seller answered "from wood shavings ,duh !"
the bag has nothing on it too ,
so I don't know what it is exactly .
oh and I discovered that if you
fill the water bottle till the edge , it creates a vacuum and this way it won't
drip . I guess most of you here know that already .
so now the smell has gone , they
smell ok , and they are both cuter than ever :)
yes , this change has effected
their behavior also .
so again , thank you all for
sharing your wisdom and experience with me .
hila .
