Corner him and use a small bar rag or towel to swaddle him as
you pick him up; be gentle and careful. Or do what I do with 'rottweiler
dwarf hamsters' and wear gloves. I have some ounce and a halfers
that think they'll take my jugular out....<g>..but they're good fathers...
minding their babies. (other times they're nice, but the first two
weeks they have a litter around...lookout...)

Use the gloves, get him, and switch out of the aspen. It sounds
like there's some large chunks that are causing him problems...
get someone to help you and put a little neosporin on the nose
with a Q-tip....

What were you using, careFresh?

Have you given him any new toys lately, something he could be
chewing on or rubbing his nose against?

Or, is there any chance his cagemate (I think you have him with
someone) bit him? If he's being chased, then you're going to have
to separate him.

A minor bite, separation and neosporin will do it...a really deep
and ugly puncture, needs cleaning out and care. You might wait
until the vet opens if you think you need to take him; or it will
cost you a LOT more if there is an after hours vet clinic around.

If it's really deep, it will need cleaning out or it will develop an
infection....

email me privately if you need to; I always answer my mail and will
be in for a bit yet.
