Our local Zoo (Denver Zoo) neevr live feed their animals. I have been
"behind the scenes" in the tropical areas and saw them feeding the snakes.
They always put down the animals before feeding them to the snakes, Komodo's,
Crocs, etc. As a matter of fact..I think it is illegal to live feed the
animals that are in zoos.

<< Most of the "serious" snake owners I know (the ones who actually want to
own
and care for a snake, as opposed to people who want to watch a kind of
garbage disposal for rodents) will kill the live food before they feed it to
the snake. Even a mouse can scratch, and snakes can run into the thousands
when it comes to replacing them. So it's easier to put the critter down,
and then feed it to the snake.
