Since we "agreed" upon the beginning of the subject for threadmarkers, I
suggest that we use the format -M-. As you can see by the subject I
purposely left on this message, the RE:M: rather blends. At least RE:-M-
will stand out a bit more. I don't use kill files, but as a visual clue the
threadmarkers need to stand out from the subject.

Speaking of which, I haven't gotten any votes in several days, so I'll
consider it done and all of you who didn't have an opinion will just have
to live with the few that did. :)

We got eight votes for threadmarkers at the beginning of the subject
line, four votes for at the end of the subject line, and four "other"
votes from people suggesting alternates (put them at both ends; use
subject headers) or people who didn't follow directions (no one cares
anyway; Yes, I like them!).

So, the beginning people have it.

Now, everyone needs to either use the M: format (which I don't much
like myself) or vote on a new format, like -M-. Whatever it is,
everyone must use it the SAME WAY. No (M) or *M* or $M$ or MMM...you
get the idea. Unless it's a standard, it won't help people to killfile
or scorefile or sort specific threadmarkers.

The current standard is M: (well, technically, :M) because when the idea
was introduced originally it was thought that a format like -M- was too
long to type. Julian was also concerned that this format might be
a standard thing to type in a subject header, though, with the colon
after a letter.

People can send me their votes on a format type, if they'd like, and
I'll let you know the results of that in a week. :)
