gnawing wood ?

Hi list,

Need some help and advice. What kind of wood can one give a gerbil / jird
to gnaw ? (And more importantly, what woods should one keep away from
because they could be toxic ?) I know people who give hazel, willow, apple
and pear-tree wood, and pine. Anything else possible ? What are definitely
to be avoided ?
