I acquired some time ago a brother and sister, suppose to be baby squirrels
but turned out to be just common outdoor rodents (rats).  These were gray in
color just like the rats that I have outside around the building I store my
hay in.  As these two little rats grew, which I separated as soon as I
decided one was female and one was male, they had large black eyes just like
the picture of the one on here has.  Their ears were the same and they don't
look anything like the famous Virginia opossum.  The opossum has a longer
snout than the rodent rat does.  The only difference is the color of the
hair.  There are some species that are different colors so I would suspect
this is how this little guy got his coloring.  Regards, Ginny
