I know, I know, this isn't the place to be talking about
cockateils but it *is* sort of gerbil-related. If you've read my
older GML posts I'm very exited about the recent event of me
getting a new cockateil, it hasn't happened yet, but I've already
got the cage and such.

Anyway, I know 'teils usually sleep at night, but I worry that my
gerbils wheel squeaking, chewing, digging, etc. might bother the
'teil. I know they usually wake up in the night and then fall
back asleep but it may be harder for them to sleep if there's a
high-pitched squeak right next to them, or the awful grinding
noise of a plastic tube being demolished. I could obviously take
the wheels and such out, but the digging is sort of inevitable.

Also, not gerbil-related, when I sleep in my room (which is where
the cockateil would be) I usually keep the lamp on or I dim the
lights with the dimmer we recently installed. I CAN turn the
lights out but sometimes it's also inevitable because I will
often fall asleep reading my book (hey, Harry Potter is quite an
attention-catcher even the 7th time around). Would the light bug
them?

Anyway, if any of you 'teil owners could answer I'd appreciate
it..

Paige
