Yes, that is the commonly held idea.

As you found, it can be difficult to find compatible pairs

Yes, it was difficult.  However I didn't do it up to that point because the
commonly held idea, profligated on GML, was that it was NOT DONE.  I had a
problem.  To find a solve, I went against the "commonly held idea."  It
worked.  I was happy.  My gerbils were happy.  "Commonly held ideas" don't
have to be "Don't do this under any circumstances" ideas.
