Anything under two pounds gets to be prohibitively
difficult to treat. Cats and dogs, they can do things
like dialysis and kidney transplants; anything smaller, no.

Health insurance for animals, has been around for
awhile. For some breeds of dogs especially, that are
prone to various problems, it is well worth it.

It's difficult to find a vet that can treat small animals,
period.

Also, the lifespan on a dog or cat is usually three times
longer and up than a small animal. The insurance premiums
would not be practical for a small animal, in that light. [a dog
or cat is old at 6-8 years old; a hamster, a year, a gerbil, two]

I don't think anyone is going to offer insurance for anything
smaller than a dog or cat anytime in the near future....
