Yes.  Palmwood has a high silicate content and is nasty
to human woodworkers as well as small animals.

Again, suggest you stick to white or yellow pine or
apple or pear wood.  Around here in the spring and
fall, there are a number of people that own fairly
mature fruit trees, and I can get get trimmings easily.
Or after a wind or ice storm, I can sometimes get
larger stock.
