Hi-
I had to use cages when traveling (tanks took up too much room). I avoided
the mess by placing the cage inside a larger box with tall sides. That way
when the gerbils kick their bedding around, the bedding stays contained
within the box instead of spreading around your house.
If you need to get access to cage doors and the sides of the boxes are in
the way, try cutting part of the box away for easy access.
