Promise had her first litter today (three pups) right on schedule. But
she is not acting at all like my other mothers (Cara and Blossom) of
previous litters. They stuck right to the nest, whereas Promise is
running all around the tank and digging in corners. The father Bullet
who raised a litter (with a different mom) is in a nest separate from
the pups, but checks on them occasionally. I just threw a towel over
the tank and am trying not to continue checking on them.

Is this a bad sign? Is she likely not to nurse or nurture these pups?
(I do have another mother with 4 week old pups; I think she may be
pregnant)

Also, I've never seen blood before following a birth, but here saw three
splotches in the white tissue (about 1/2 centimeter in diameter). Is
that due to after-birth? Or would it be due to a stillbirth that was
eaten??

And replies and quickly would be much appreciated! Thank you, Donna
