Tobacco is also a pesticide.  You can put alittle (just the amount from 1
cigarette) in a metal tea ball and put it into their tank.  The metal tea
ball will prevent them from eating the tobacco leaves and the small amount
of tobacco will help discourage the mites.
Replace the tobacco weekly.  (Put the old tobacco out around your roses to
discourage aphids or just toss it into your compost pile.)
