If you remove the glass leaving them with only the bottle, I would keep a
close eye on them to see if they start drinking from the bottle. Maybe if
you tap the nozzle to keep it wet, they will figure it out and begin to
drink.

I assume you mean that they pile the bedding up in the corner where the
bottle hangs? If this is what they are doing, sometimes placing an object
(wooden toy, house) near the nozzle will help. For some reason, when an
object is placed near the nozzle, they keep that are dug out. This doesn't
always work, but it may be worth a try.
Does the bottle need to be raised?

Maybe it's not the water on the finger that he is afraid of but the smell of
the wet finger may scare him. Be patient, make sure the bottle does work.
When you tap on the nozzle, water should drip and bubbles should rise to the
top of the water.
