Cindy - Its possible the gerbils were exposed to a contaminant of some
sort. Wash out the tank with plain hot water and give plain white
bathroom tissue for a few days to see if she calms down.
Possible contaminants -
1) Chocolate. (Stimulant causes gerbils to be hyper).
2) Gas fumes (Tank was on floor of Kitchen).
3) Cleanser of some type was used in tank or nearby areas.
4) Cat may have sprayed tank ( don't know if this would be harmful? just
a guess).
5) Litter is contaminated either by chemicals or was freshly cut.
6) Gerbil had a stroke.
