Subject: C : Care Questions

Secondly, I give my gerbils toilet paper rolls (or paper towel ones) to chew on. Is
that sufficient enough for them to wear down their teeth, or do they need something
more tough like a piece of wood?

Thanks,
Jason

They'll shred tp rolls in nothing flat. Gerbils are avid chewers and need something a
little more substantial to keep them occupied. Branches are great, provided that you
know there are no pesticides on the trees. Cottonwoods are evidently especially
tasty. And, although I wouldn't necessarily recommend it as a chew toy, one of my
gerbils even has made a siginificant dent in the pottery house I made for him and his
roomie. :) They live to chew.
