Hi Jocie -- I posted a picture of a very pregnant gerbil Promise at:
http://www.geocities.com/abcgerbils/mybreeding.html?978682679990
(She's really a darked-eyed gerbil LCPA Spot, even though she's got
"red-eye" here)
When a gerbil is very close to having pups, she looks like she swallowed
a ball -- not fat all over, but very round just in the lower belly.
I took the picture yesterday. She has since built a big beautiful
well-constructed nest in the front, right corner (and the pair always
nests in the back left). But no pups yet.
It has been 27 days since the last litter and 23 days since I removed
her (single) pup of the last litter to be fostered.
(Have people found that once a litter is prematurely removed, the next
comes in 24 days? In my other two cases of single pups that died or
were fostered the next litters came after 24 and 26 days -- not the 35
or so day delay when there are nursing pups).

Hi all,
I was wondering how you can tell when a female is pregnant. My
bluefox female (Andromeda) looks much bigger than
normal when she is not standing up. However like i said this is
only when she is not standing, when she is she looks prity
normal. Do all females look fat when they are going to have pups?
Also they made a totaly new nest today in a total
different part of the cage. In the past they have always stuck to
one side of the tank. thanks for any help? Maybe it is just
wishfull thinking. :)
