I agree with Donna on the
breeding.
Perhaps introducing the male
gerbils to new female partners and no longer breeding these mothers who are
making meals out of their young?
Another thought I had was if
there isn't sufficient food/water that may create survival instincts to cause
the mother to consume their young in order to survive themselves. Are the
mother's very young? I've heard that very young mother's may do this
too. As best as I can tell, you have had 2 different mother's who have
attacked and eaten their young?
I'm fairly new here to so I am
by no means an expert, but I know that many here have raised gerbils for some
time and with their help I'm sure you will be able to work with your
gerbils and eventually have healthy and happy litters. Sorry to hear about
the devastating events of losing your pups this way! Keep your chin up and
I'm sure you will (with the help of GML) eventually have some little one's to
croon over! :-)
