my yellow fox female had her pups yesterday morning.
One was stillborn (least I am assuming it was). Last
check showed four little squeakers doing pretty
all-right. I'm just curious though. She's moved them
three times already. I have tried not to mess with
her much because she's a bit skittish anyway. I think
she's finally settled for now. Is it fairly normal
for a new mother to do this? My Tina didn't do that
much, and she's the only other pregnant gerbil I've
ever had. Peaches, my yellow fox, is behaving pretty
much normal in every other way (ie, bewildered and
wondering what these little pink squirmy things are!)
Do they all do that with their first litter?
Oh, and Tina's eye is fine. The pups just turned 3
weeks old today and they are pretty much owning the
cage. :) Funniest thing . . . two day ago, for
whatever reason, Tina decided the babies should be IN
the nest. So she proceeded to chase them down and
drage them to the nest. As soon as she'd turn to get
another one, the one she'd just dropped off would zip
off in the other direction! It was hilarious watching
her try and collect them up. She picked one of them
up three separate times! I wish I'd gotten that on
video. Was highly ammusing.
well, that's my update.
