one of these days I will learn not to assume a color
after only five or six days, eh?

My light yellow fox and nutmeg have four pups. Three
boys and a girl. One of the boys is clearly a yellow
fox. A bit darker than his mom, with ruby eyes. The
other three have me a bit puzzled.

They are all a white or cream color, with a very light
peach color dusting. I know that Peaches has the c(h)
gene, and it's possible that Cocoa has it too . . .
but do either DTW's or PEW's have that peach color
when they're younger? I know that both gerbils are
split for all recessives, but the only other thing I
know about gerbils that have that color before
moulting are silver nutmegs or polar foxes. Since
these three have red-eyes, I'm fairly certain it's not
one of those colors. which makes me wonder if they
could be REW or Apricots. Just wondering. It is
rather a puzzle isn't it?

I did try to introduce the older female to one of the
younger ones . . . it didn't work. I decided that a
little scratch was enough and took the little girl
out. The older girl I put back with her sis and the
"psycho twins" as I call them, are back togetehr and
perfectly happy. *shrug* should have known better I
guess. Instead I'm splitting up the younger girls
with Mom and big sis who's been in the cage with them
since they were born, which, if I had though for a
moment, I would have done in the first place.

The three boys from Tina's second litter are 4 and a
half weeks old, and the three boys from Peaches first
litter are a week and a half old. With only three
weeks difference between the two sets of boys, I was
going to put them together instead of risking with the
older nine and a half week old and his Dad. Is six
pushing it?

thanks
RW
