well, I added my two little guys, who I've started
calling Foxy (red fox) and Pirate (missing one hind
foot) to the tank with Mario, Luigi and Yoshi. I kept
a close eye on them all day yesterday, and while there
was no fighting there was quite a bit of chasing for a
bit. Mostly Luigi was the one chasing the little
guys, but then he does that to his own brothers as
well.
They are, currently, all piled in the corner sleeping
peacefully. I had some cardboard tubes in their cage
that i took out because I wanted to make sure I could
see them and that they were getting used to each other
and not just hiding. I decided to wait until tomorrow
to put the tubes back, but it looks so far as if
everyone is getting along just peachy.
I don't know whether Peaches, my light yellow fox, is
expecting yet or not. Her first litter is a bit over
four weeks old and she isn't showing a bit. But I did
see her and Cocoa mating about three or four days ago,
so I don't know if there's just going to be a delay or
maybe she just didn't catch. *shrug* at any rate
we'll just see how things develop from there.
Is Apricot a common color? Looking at the genes, it's
like a red-eyed polar fox, and I ended up with three
in this first litter. was just curious about that. I
seem to have gotten lucky with my litters in that alot
of recessives have come out.
oh one other question . . . red fox and yellow fox.
Main difference is the white tummies on the yellow fox
isn't it? with the distinctive white marks around the
ears? For a while I thought Foxy was a yellow fox,
but he's got none of the white markings his mom does.
his tummy is a bit lighter than the rest of him, but
definitely NOT white. go figure. so I'm assuming red
fox.
well that's all from this corner of the world, hope
everyone and their gerbils are doing well.
