Actually I moved them into aspen. And they are better!   Neat thing. Have a 20 gal tank.   Took 4 manila folders, cut them in half and quarters. Made paper tubes from them. Added 2 inches of aspen bedding. Placed tubes randomly some standing 45 degree angles. Placed a few wood ladders randomly about for more support. Added 4 inches more of aspen atop of entire structure. Packed the bedding down to firm up the top layer (which acts as the floor).   Let the foxes goto work. Added 3 tissues after they dug everything into a chamber maze!   Never seen them happier. They tend to 'snuzzle' more. Looks like a more realistic habitat. Compulsive digging has stopped.   Me How are your polar fox gerbils doing? I hope they have recovered. Did you do a course of antibiotics? Best wishes, Kathleen
