I've just rejoined the list after a long absence, and I have a
question about colours. I'm babysitting the gerbils from my kids'
primary school. The happy couple have three 4-week olds (which
wasn't supposed to happen, but that's a long story you've all heard
before!). Anyway, the mother is black, and the father is a REW. The
babies are all dark, but not as dark as the mother. I've tried the
genetics calculator, but I'm useless at figuring it out, so I'll just
ask the experts here. Could the babies be slate? I expect there
will be another litter appearing in a couple weeks. Could I expect
any different colours? Thanks for any help.
