You need to give gerbils about thirty minutes of exploring before they
will start to calm down. Jackie had a photographer round on Good Friday
to take some photos for a magazine. The poor photographer was going mad
trying to get the gerbils to stay still. Finally after about forty
minutes, they would just sit in her hands, on her shoulder, whatever. He
took what I expect to be a very nice series of her holding three gerbils
in her cupped hands, with the three heads pocking out in a line. They
sat like that for at least fifteen minutes without moving.
