Welcome to the GML and gerbils!
I've been keeping and breeding them for about a year
and half now and really enjoying these little animals.

No, this is a black gerbil, in that it does not carry
the Sp (spotting) gene. My first male Alan, is black
with a white chin, and I thought he was spotted and
would produce spotted pups. I found out later that
the chin and toes markings are normal variants of
self-colored gerbils and doesn't indicate Sp
(spotting). White anywhere else at all is spotting.
