Hi

"I have noticed that when my females have big fights, it always seems to be
when one or both is in heat. Anybody else noticed this?"

sorry if this is an obvious question but, how do you know when they are in
heat?

I have been wondering about this subject myself, the agression and coming
into heat. You may remember that my three girls had a huge bust up at the
beginning of this year with Milly having to be separated as she was
definately the agressor. I couldn't work out why she had done this since
they seemed so inseperable and she is such a companiable thing.

But, the other night she went completely nuts. She spent three hours
throwing herself up against the lid of her acquarium over and over again. I
eventually lost patience and put her in the old rotostak system we have set
up for when there acquariums are being cleaned.

This cut the noise down but she didn't calm down and was attacking the bars
at the top with a frenzy. She also attacked the plastic maze dividers
inside it and the tubes. She was going beserk.

I covered over the rotostak with a teatowel (you know how they do with
parrots cages to calm them down). She did quiten a little, but when I went
to move her back in the morning I found that she had dragged the teatowel
through the bars and had eaten at least half the tea towel. And I mean
eaten, there was no trace of any material in the rotostak!

I have never seen her in such a rage. And rage is the word. If she was in
that kind of a mood the night she attacked Mandy, I'm surprised Mandy got
away with the few bites and cuts she did!

How often do they come into season? I want to be prepared for the next
frenzy session!
