Is it normal for a female gerbil to bleed a bit after her first mating?
I got my pair together, well actually my husband did while I was at
work. He said they mated for quite awhile, tonight I noticed she seems
tired and listless and keeps cleaning herself. I picked her up and
looked and she looks awfully sore and is bleeding a little. I put the
male in a carrier again for the moment as I want him to leave her
alone! I'm hauling out my antibiotics as I don't want her to get an
infection. Now I'm not so sure breeding her is a good idea. Opinions?
I don't remember this with any of my previous breeding pairs.
