Ok, there is "new rodent fever" running rampant here.
I believe there are several listmembers who own or have had experience with
degus. I think I'd like to get a pet pair.
But ...
I will be likely getting them from a pet store, and hopefully young ones (I
saw some that were nursing last week there). How likely am I going to be
nipped before they get used to me? (or just plain period?)
I know they need a special diet - the pet store said guinea pig pellets and
hay were to be a basic diet. Is that right or should they be fed something
else? What else should I give them besides this?
Any advice on handling/taming or any other issues would be appreciated.
