Another Question

Thank you to everyone who answered my "water" question. Now I have another one. I have been doing a lot of reading on the internet about gerbil bedding. Now the question is what should I use? I know Cedar is out of the question, and a lot of reading has said that pine isn't the best for them either. Now the question is what should I use? At this moment I am using cardboard, toilet paper, and paper towel (which is getting expensive already due to the fact that I have 2 medium size cages and one 3ft by 2ft 2 level cage all connected... a Buckingham palace for gerbils) What do all of you use?
