Ok, here is a genetics guess! I have a female that
according to the breeder is "either" a Champangne OR
an argente nutmeg. . . since these two colors look
nothing alike to me, I am wondering what she is. Here
are the "clues":
1. She has an orangish head and tail, and there
is very faint orangish "ticking" over her body;
2. She has red eyes;
3. She has been bred to a silver schimmel and
every single pup currently with her is either a
schimmel, a Silver nutmeg or a DEH from appearances.
Her breeder did mention that she will have argente
nutmegs, also, but all the pups currently with her
have dark eyes (I gather my male is PP)
4. I see NO spot on the end of her tail.
Clearly she carries an ef in order for any of her pups
to be efef. Is it possible that the ef, combined with
the pp, modifies her base color (like the ch gene is
further modified by the pp in doves?)and she is
"really" an argente nutmeg (aka Red Fox) but looks
like a Champaign?
What do you folks think?
Namaste.
