Look closely at the ear tilted toward the ground. Do you see any blood or signs
of scratching? Even if you don't it's possible it could be an ear problem. I
have had two, well three now, gerbils with this problem. I lost one, the other
recovered but still has a head tilt. He doesn't wobble anymore and acts normal
except for his head being tilted. I got antibiotic ear drops from the vet. The
only thing I know to suggest since you can't get to a vet would be Ornacycline
in the water. It's really a shame nobody treats rodents in your area, though,
as it would be much better. :(
BTW our patriarch, Rascal, is the third with this problem now. He's I think
three years and seven months old now. He hasn't been responding to the
treatment but the vet just had me increase it, perhaps he will now. If not I
have to take him back in a couple of days. Poor Rascal. Sigh. His cagemate
and son, Pookie, is so helpful it's touching. He bathes Rascal extra often and
gently. If not for him I think Rascal wouldn't appear very clean as I don't
think he can clean himself except for his face.
Hope I'm not too incoherent, I just woke up. :)
