What a great change from what has dominated the board
lately!

Each of my gerbils has its own personality. Some are
decidly grumpy and grouches, some lively and curious.
There is an "old man" who is with some juveniles,
teaching them how to build nests (ala, Jimmy Carter);
a "Madonna" who wants everything her way, right away;
several "Martyr" types who you just know are resigned
to their fate (of rearing their litters) - taking very
deep, bored breathes as they stretch out for the
litter to nurse, my "Houdini" who tries to escape at
the beat of my heart even though paired; and several
who are so obviously entranced with each other that
they need nothing else but basic sustenance from me. I
think I interrupt their devotion to each other.

I tend to humanize them, and frequently find myself
talking to them. . . they have yet to speak English
back to me although they do communicate their needs
and wants very quickly when they see the Cheerio box
come out!

I have enjoyed reading the other stories and
reflections. Thanks for the question.

Namaste.

Cynthia
