I've had 2 female gerbils for some time now, and ever since I got them they
always run away from me when I tried to pick them up, or even put my hand in
the cage. I've tried to get them to walk onto my hand using treats, but they
just grab the treat and run to the corner. And when I open the cage door and
hold my hand outside of it they put their front paws on me and if I move my
hand at all they run. This is getting very frustrating, especially when I'm
trying to clean the cage. Is this normal? What can I do to get the gerbils
to let me pet them and pick them up?
