I, personally, don't feel comfortable with the water vitamin supplements. If the gerbils are being fed a balanced diet, they do not need any vitamins or minerals supplemented. Given this, supplementing anyway can run the risk of giving them more than they need of a given vitamin or mineral which can be just as unhealthy as not having enough. Also, some of the vitamins and minerals included in these supplements degrade very quickly in water and when exposed to light- therefore the gerbil may be getting none of some of the things in there by the time they get around to drinking any quantity of it.
