It is not a weird question! I have gerbils and a box turtle. I worry about
salmonella too, so I took my turtle to the vet for a teat. At that time, he
was salmonella free. but to be safe, I don't let my gerbils run around on
the livingroom carpet where the turtle plays, I don't let the turtle in the
gerbil play yard, and I wash my hands very well and use that sanitizer stuff
that comes in a gell on my hands, too, If I am moving between the gerbils
and the turtle. but other than that, they live in the same room.

This question may seem wierd...I recently got a turtle and 'play' with it
often. If the gerbils got into any contact with it, could they catch
salmonella? My gerbils are out of the cage a lot and i just wanted to make
