Gerbils can be awfully quick about 'whambam' and done. She could
have delivered just one pup or miscarried just one pup and the male
did the dutiful thing, which was to try to rebreed her.
More likely, she might have actually carried, delivered one or two
pups, had problems with those and destroyed them; then was
rebred and now miscarried.

Keep a close eye on her. If you pick her up and she has an off
smell to her (like rotting something) then take her to the vet for
a check. Or she bleeds more. Or she starts acting strangely,
or lethargic.
Is she over the last two weeks either gotten plump and thin,
or now has a concave stomach?
