About 6 years ago I had a black female gerbil named
Snoop. She loved to do that very same thing, or
something very similar, in her wheel. She never
appeared to get hurt doing it and never ceased to
enjoy it. She would just run at top speed then all of
a sudden come to an abrubt stop and turn a flip or
sommersault in her wheel. She had always been a bold
exploring gerbil , thus the name Snoop. She was the
only one out of all our many gerbils who purposely did
that, but she apparently loved it.
I certainly hope your gerbil never gets hurt doing her
tricks, but I think the danger is minimal. Wether or
not you allow her to take what may or may not be a
risk is up to you.
