I found these two new bedding types..One is NuggleNests 15 gram bedding,
wihich is made from hygenically prepared plant fiber that can be eaten
without causing harm.
What sort of plant fiber? Does it dissolve into non-stringy
mush when put in water for twenty minutes?
The other is Feathernests white 15 gram bedding. It is 100% unprocessed
cotton fluff.
Is this safe?
ABSOLUTELY NOT. Cotton fibers don't break, not the way
they need to. Cotton will cause fatal intestinal blockage if
ingested, and the fibers can wrap around limbs and
amputate and necks and strangle.
I would give NuggleNests a wide berth too just out of principle.
Where did you see this stuff for sale?
The packages will always be labelled 'safe for small animals'
and probably has a picture of a gerbil or hamster on the
package....and it's not.
