Hello all. I wonder if I could re-introduce Cairo and Zerwin again.
They have drawn blood. It was so sudden, I don't know what set it off except the tube from the other male gerbil tank. They're roughly 8 months old, both of them. Zerwin seems to be the attacker since Cairo was more hurt? I have a large plastic kritter keeper. I have it in the main tank. I've been switching them back and forth between the main tank and the kritter keeper every few hours. Last night, I couldn't watch them constantly, so I took out the kritter keeper, afraid they might chew at it, or whatever. Cairo was in the main tank, Zerwin outside the tank in the kritter keeper. Did I do that wrong? Since they were 'totally' apart for about 7 hours. I put them back in today, about 8:00, 9:00 in the morning. I'm thinking about doing that for a couple days, then getting a 10 gallon of clean bedding, a completely scrubbed bowl, scrubbed water bottle and holder, clean tissues, everything clean and free of either gerbil scent.. and putting them both in there. Should I do split-cage with that instead of just putting them in? If they behave, I'll clean out the main tank and transfer them to that. Please help.. thanks.
