I had a family of four females together for about six
months, then removed one for breeding. The four did
fine and then the three did fine.

I have another female trio that has done fine.

I had another female trio that did fine until the
daughter was about 5 months. Then though smaller she
attacked mom, who I removed.

Bottom line:
#1 They might be okay together, but females in pairs
are less likely to fight when maturity hits.
#2 Follow the 5 gallons per gerbil rule, so four
should be in 20 gallons so they are not crowded
#3 Remember the gerbil breeders mantra -- there is
always room for one more tank (what about the hallway
or bathroom...tee hee.
