Dominance

Hi, I am just curious about something - I have 3 male gerbils living in one tank, one is about 8 months old and the other two brothers are about 5 months old.  The two brothers were introduced to the older single gerbil about 3 months ago and have been living happily together ever since.  I am just curious to know if it is possible to find out which of the three is the "leader" and the dominant gerbil and does this gerbil remain the leader for the whole time that they are living together or do they change over leader from time to time?  I know nothing about this and I am purely curious to know as I love watching my gerbils behaviour towards eachother.  Are there any signs I can look out for to be able to tell who is the dominant one?  Would it be the gerbil who is the oldest?   Bonnie
