Howdy Terri,
We have several gerbils and we too have noticed a few of them "wag their tails"  :o)  it's pretty funny when they do because of how they do it, like you said fast and jerky. It seems to us that when Gerbie wags hers, it is to warn Jin and the other gerbils that one of our cats are staring at them, or at least are too close and it sometimes is followed by them "thumping"

Does that sound like what Felix does? or do you think he maybe he's just doing it because he is interested in something going on in the room he's in? That's another reason I think that Blade, a big male we have, wags his tail at times  :o)

We have around 20 to 25 gerbils at a time around and we see them do some very interesting things and it's fun try to figure out why they will be doing the many different things that they do.

It seems that ya never have camera or, even better, a video camera in your hand at the times they are doing things that you say to yourself "Damn! I wish I could get a video of him, or her, doing that!!!" A person could make a very interesting and educational video from lots of the funny things that gerbils do, huh? That's half the fun of having them, just watching some of the goofy things they do  :o)  I hope you enjoy and love them all as much as we do ...... Happy gerbiling to ya  :o)

========================================
Hi All,

I've recently noticed that my DEH, Felix has started wagging his tail.  He
just started a few nights ago.  I've never seen that before.

He just fathered 7 pups this month and all are doing well.  The parents are
pretty relaxed and still like to climb on my arm and take sunflower seeds
from my hand.

He wags his tail in quick, jerky movements that last a few seconds.  What's
up with that?

Terry
