I think it'll just remove all the temporary stuff Maven uses. I'm no expert though, so just rename it if you're not sure.

The point is that beta 10 and RC1 both use the same directory, so I wouldn't be surprised if things have gotten a bit confused. Renaming or removing it should basically start you off from fresh.

I think ;-)

Arghhhh...wonderful...it appears to work quite fine on my MacOSX machine.....

Will removing the .maven directory on my Linux box completely uninstall my snapshot?

Yeah, this sounds good to me.

I downloaded the the maven beta and attempted the build again, now I get
the following error:

java:compile: [echo] Compiling to /home/wmprice/javadevel/incubator-geronimo/target/ classes

BUILD FAILED

OK I don't know why you're seeing that, but try this anyway:

1) remove /home/wmprice/.maven (in case there's a conflict between the
RC1 and beta 10 stuff)
2) Do a fresh checkout of geronimo from CVS

and try again, just in case something's gone 'screwy'.

I'll set up a page on the Wiki so we can start documenting these things.
