sorry ;-)
when working offline the VM could't establish a connection to the remote URL
causing the complete build to fail.
IMHO the test doesn't lose anything when removing the remote connection.
(the remote connection just tests SUNs HttpURLConnection class)
now the test works independent of online/offline/proxy settings
