Thanks I will try that tonight, but....

could somebody send me sums on the jars,? So that I can see which ones are 
corrupt.
That will help prevent me hitting the same problem again, or at least reduce the
chances of that.

I guess your maven repository(particularly the castor jars) is corrupted
due to the unreliable net connection.Can you delete the jars from the
maven repository and try a build again?

I have also encountered a problem building geronimo. No errors or warnings
are reported throughout the build until the failure and then it reports
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/exolab/castor/builder/SourceGenerator

Obviously, I am missing some jar, but which one? and why didn't maven obtain
it for me?

I have attached the output of my build. I am using an unreliable dial-up for
this purpose and have to reconnect from time to time, that is why some tasks
are skipped.
